For schools and teachers:

What subjects are covered?

Currently we cover Maths, Science, English, Geography, History Art & Design, E-Safety and Music. More subjects will be added over time.

Do I need to install any software?

No – Millionaire for Schools runs entirely within your web browser.. You may need to install the free Adobe Flash Player if you don't already have it (around 98% of people already have it installed) but don't worry if you do not have it as you will be prompted and guided to do this when necessary.

Is it official?

Absolutely. It is also the ONLY legal licensed version of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? for use in educational contexts.

How has Millionaire for Schools been adapted for educational use?

Millionaire for Schools has made several changes to the standard Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? quiz format in order to be more appealing to pupils and more suited to education:

  • Configurable number of questions - this means quizzes of different numbers of "steps" in the Millionaire ladder can be made. This is particularly important so that shorter quizzes for starter or plenary activities lasting only 10 minutes can be made.
  • Rehearsal mode with lives as well as lifelines - so if a student gets a question wrong they don't immediately get ejected from the quiz.
  • Inclusion of fixed sequence questioning style, allowing teachers to specify the exact order of the questions that appear.
How do Pupils Get Access to the Site In a School Environment?

There are two ways for pupils to get access to quizzes:

  1. Controlled Access
    • SCORM – Uploading a SCORM package onto a SCORM compliant VLE
    • Embedding – By embedding a link to the quiz in an approved platform such as Learning Grid, Learning Gateway, Learning Platform or VLE.
  2. Controlled access involves teachers granting access to specific quizzes. Depending on local circumstances this would work through either of the two following methods

Please check with your ICT coordinator or Technical Support team to find out which method is appropriate for you.

The pricing of the SCORM and Embedding addins will be based on pupil numbers.

  3. Unlimited Access
  4. To get the full benefits of the site there will be a school licence for pupils based on Shibboleth Federated Access, which is currently being developed – the pricing of this will be based on pupil numbers.
